Behind the image
Photography is more than the finished frame. These stories share the patience, light and encounters behind the work.
Fast-moving raptors demand anticipation rather than reaction. The strongest frame often comes just before the bird changes direction.
Dragonflies, ladybirds and webs reveal extraordinary structure when the camera slows down and the light is allowed to do the work.
Dramatic cloud and fleeting light can transform a familiar local scene into something timeless.
About Michael
I am a Lincolnshire-based photographer with a passion for wildlife, nature and landscapes. My work focuses on the quiet moments that are easy to miss: a bird banking into the light, a deer pausing in woodland or the fine detail in an insect's wings.
Every photograph is made with patience and respect for the subject. My aim is to create images that bring the character of the natural world into people's homes.
“The best photographs begin with observation, patience and respect.”
